Local Triathlon Team Named USAT’s Florida Regional Champions
August 11, 2015. MIAMI, FL – Local triathlon training team, Tri2One, was named overall club champion by USA Triathlon (USAT), the official governing body of the sport.
The Florida region determining race was the long-standing Huntington’s Disease Triathlon, held in Miami on Sunday, July 26. The local regional club championship race was selected due to its charity component and well-deserved distinguished reputation. USAT Florida Regional representatives were present on race day to confirm scoring and host the award presentation.
Sixteen triathlon teams competed at the race with local team Tri2One, led by Coach Marcelo Holcberg, scoring the most points based on age group rankings. Twenty-three of the team’s members participated in the race with sixteen placing in the top five of their age group and four winning the top spot.
Exactly two weeks after the regional race, seven of the team’s members participated in the USAT National Championship with all seven placing in the top three of their respective categories for Florida, confirming the team indeed deserves the top-billing designation as state champions.
Started in 2010, the team boasts over one hundred members and hosts daily training sessions in swimming, biking and running in the Miami, Doral and Aventura area.
Founded in 1982, USA Triathlon sanctions more than 4,300 races and connects with nearly 500,000 members each year in triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon, aquabike, winter triathlon, off-road triathlon and paratriathlon in the United States.About Tri2One Coaching
